Brian Carl Spenner, 23, of Hoyleton, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the scene of an automobile accident near New Minden. He was born on September 6, 1991 in Centralia, the son of Wayde K. and Laura A. Neuhaus Spenner. He married Janel Murphy on June 17, 2011 and she survives. Also left to mourn his passing are his parents, Wayde and Jamie Spenner of Centralia and Laura Spenner of Champaign; a brother, Scott Spenner of Hoyleton; grandparents, Carolyn Spenner of Hoyleton and Allen and Verna Hixenbaugh of Centralia; a step-brother, Jeff D. Murphy of Centralia; a niece, Elizabeth Lutz of Centralia; and a special cousin, Tremaine Maschburn of Centralia. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vernon Spenner.

Brian was a graduate of Centralia High School and was active duty in the military where he was a Specialist in the United States Army stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, having been deployed to Afghanistan. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton and enjoyed music and playing golf.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating. Burial was in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Minden with military rites accorded by the Fort Leonard Wood Army Burial Detail.
