Mr. Eugene R. Kania of Nashville departed this life at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:25 p.m. He had attained the age of 79 years, one month and two days.

Mr. Kania was born in DuBois on December 9, 1935, the son of Charles and Louise (Nawrocki) Kania. He was united in marriage to Esther Paszkiewicz on September 14, 1957 in Posen, and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2001.

Eugene was a lifelong farmer and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Posen. Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and polka music.

Left to mourn his passing are his two children, Gina Holthaus and husband George of Carlyle, and Janice Weihe and husband Steven of New Baden; three grandchildren, Markus Kania and wife Lindsay, Shelby Weihe and Justin Weihe; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Jaiden and Ryker Kania; a sister, MaryLou Ratajczyk and husband Raymond of Columbia; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Kania of Nashville, Pauline Kania of DuBois, and Joann Kania of DuBois; niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen Kania; a sister, Lucile Barczewski; and five brothers, Leonard, Marion, Edward, Charles Jr. and Joseph.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Posen on Friday, January 16 at 10 A.M. with Fr. Bernard Goedde officiating and with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Should friends desire mass offerings or memorials may be made to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery or Heartland Hospice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
