Harlen W. Lange

Harlen W. Lange, age 80, of Hoffman, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Carlyle Healthcare Center. He was born June 14, 1934 in Brookside Township, the son of Fred and Leona (Lueking) Lange. He married Wilma Michael on October 29, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman.

Along with his wife, Mr. Lange is survived by his daughter Lana (Jason) Peters of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three sons, Mark (Myra) Lange of St. Peters, Mo., Terry (Deb) Lange of Addieville and Scott (Sarah) Lange of Salem; three brothers, LeRoy (Dorothy) Lange of Nashville, Melvin (Earlene) Lange of Centralia, and Verlin Lange of Centralia; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Kyle Lange, Lauren, Mallory, Autumn, Avery, and Nathan Peters; step-grandson Cody (Sidney) Garden; great grandchildren Tripp and Grey Garden; brothers-in-law Roy (Joyce) Michael, Wayne (Nancy) Michael; and sister-in-law, MaryAnn (Bill) Leutner.

In addition to his parents, Harlen was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Olinda Michael; father-in-law, Theodore Michael; and a brother-in-law, Robert Michael.

Harlen was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman, where he held several church offices. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Lange was a dedicated and hardworking farmer who enjoyed taking care of his animals. He loved his family, especially his “sugar” girls and boys (his grandchildren). He will be remembered as a gentle and kind man that loved children whether they were family or neighbors.

Funeral Services were held at Saturday, January 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. Burial followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoffman.
