The Young Leader (YL) Committee is sponsoring a January grain donation campaign to benefit the Kaskaskia College Agriculture Program.
KC acquired the old Animal Disease Lab building from the State of Illinois, and has since renovated the building for the college’s Ag program. With the additional space, the program is finally able to expand to offer students more opportunities to learn about the diverse field of agriculture.
To be able to fully utilize the additional space and program opportunities, the KC Ag Program will need to purchase additional equipment and supplies. The Young Leader Committee will help to spread the word about KC’s efforts and help raise some funds to purchase the necessary equipment for the Ag program’s new space. The YL Committee itself is planning to make a monetary donation to KC’s Ag Program for this endeavor, but they invite members and other farmers to pitch in and donate some grain toward the cause.
Farmers bring grain the the elevator this month can ask the elevator about donating a few bushels to the Farm Bureau’s Young Leader Committee to benefit the KC Ag Program. The YL’s also have a gravity wagon available to come to collect donations from area farms, and those who donate will receive a scale ticket to document the tax-deductible donation, as well as an appreciation gift from the Washington County Farm Bureau.
Anyone interested in helping to educate the next generation of Ag professionals and famers can call the Farm Bureau office at (618) 327-3081 to schedule a convenient day to stop by for a donation.
