American Legion Boys State and Girls State are week-long leadership experiences available to high school juniors. Washington County Legion and Legion Auxiliary Posts sponsor several youth delegates each year. High school guidance counselors and American Legion post officers cooperate to identify and encourage qualified candidates to attend as part of a continuing Legion youth program.

Washington County high school juniors can get more information on American Legion Boys State and Girls State events from high school guidance counselors. Next year’s event will be held in June at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
