Gary Remer, age 29, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 9:59 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville.

Gary was born on October 8, 1985 in Nashville, a son to Raymond and Brenda (Perkey) Remer. On October 6, 2012, he married JoAnna Curlee at Field of Dreams, Desoto, and she survives. He was a member of Mt.Vernon Baptist Temple, Mt. Vernon and worked as a police officer and C.S.I. for the City of Pinckneyville. Before becoming a police officer, he was a loss prevention specialist at WalMart and Kroger. He enjoyed cigars, golfing, fishing, Harley riding, his cars, and video games but his greatest loves were his animals, including his dog, Magnum and two cats and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnna Remer of Pinckneyville; father, Raymond Remer of Nashville; mother and step-father, Brenda and P.J. Colston of Coulterville; brother, David (Steph) Remer of Woodlawn; sister, NaTasha Remer of Coulterville; step-sister, Jami Colston of Coulterville; mother-in-law and step-father-in-law; father-in-law; several siblings-in-law and step-siblings-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other dear family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two brothers-in-law, Chris Holder and Michael Neff.

Memorial services were held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville on Saturday, January 24 with Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for a memorial scholarship fund that will be used for underprivileged children. Please make checks payable to JoAnna Remer or David Remer.
