NMS Wraps Up Perfect Regular Season

Game 21 ended just like the first 20 for Nashville Middle School, as the Junior Hornets remained unbeaten with a 42-31 win over DuQuoin last Tuesday.

It was a close ballgame in the early going, but NMS stretched the lead to ten points by the end of the third quarter on the way to the win.

Carson Parker scored 13 points and Bryce Bultman added a dozen more to pace the Junior Hornets’ scoring attack. Tanner Bergmann and Brendan Baum each had eight points, and Tristen Hercules scored one.

Nashville also won the B-game by a score of 41-32. Matt Anderson scored 13 points, Jaxon Goforth had 12, Bryce Donato scored six, Hercules had five, Gavin Love went for four and Neil Kabat tipped in one in the win.

Monday night, the Junior Hornets wrapped up a perfect regular season with a 50-30 win at Murphysboro.

Nashville led 23-20 at halftime before opening up a commanding lead in the third quarter and then running away with it in the fourth quarter to notch the 20-point win.

Three players scored in double figures for NMS. Bergmann paced his squad with 15 points, Parker added 14 and Bultman went for 13. Hercules scored four points, Baum chipped in three and Nick Paszkiewicz scored one point.

NMS came up on the short end of a 46-38 score, finishing the season with a record of 10-8. Anderson scored 20 points to lead the club, Hercules added 13, Donato scored three and Kabat had two.

Postseason play starts Wednesday when the top-seeded Junior Hornets face regional host South Central at 6 p.m. The regional championship is set for Friday at 6 p.m.
