Nashville Chapter Wins FFA Quiz Bowl

Four FFA chapters participated in the 2nd annual “FFA Quiz Bowl” at NCHS in December. The event was sponsored by the Young Leader Committees from Perry and Washington County Farm Bureaus. Participating chapters were Nashville, Pinckneyville, Okawville, and Du Quoin.

Each chapter was invited to bring two teams of 3-5 students to participate in the event, and a total of 32 students competed together. Each team competed in two preliminary rounds before three teams advanced to the finals. The winning teams were: 1st place- Nashville Team #1 and 2nd place – Pinckneyville Team #1. Students were asked multiple choice questions with four possible answers. The student’s then could buzz in with the correct answer to earn points for their team. The questions that were asked included subjects such as Agriculture Safety, Agriculture Mechanics, Animal Science, Crop Production, FFA Natural Recourses and Agriculture Issues/Current Events. The moderator for the evening was the Young Leader Chairman of Perry County, John Buschschulte. In-between pizza, snacks and drinks, members had the opportunity to become more familiar with the Farm Bureau and their respective Young Leader Committee members. Students and advisors also received a t-shirt for participating in the event. Additional sponsors for the event were: Southern FS, Gateway FS, Press Box Pizza, Kellerman’s Feed & Supply, Inc., Bibs Ag Tiling Company, Monsanto, Clover Leaf Elevator, the Trophy Room, and Suchomski Equipment, Inc.
