Senior Exemption Renewal Forms To Be Mailed Out

Sharon Mewes, the Washington County Supervisor of Assessments announced that her office will be mailing the 2015 senior Citizens Homestead Exemption and Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead renewal forms this week.

Those who are 65 years of age or older in 2015 and who own and occupy property as their primary residence are eligible for the senior homestead exemption, regardless of their income. The exemption is now worth $5,000 off of the total assessed value of a home and home site.

Senior Citizens with a total household income of $55,000 or less are also eligible for the senior assessment freeze homestead exemption.

First time applicants must come in to apply in-person at the office.
