Irene F. Harris Gajewski, nee Pero, 97, of Waterloo, formerly of Belleville, born July 9, 1917, in Jefferson County, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Oak Hill Nursing Home, Waterloo.

Mrs. Gajewski was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo and a longtime member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Donald Harris; her second husband, Leo S. Gajewski; a son, Gary Gajewski; her parents, Michael and Pelagia, nee Postman, Pero; three brothers, Conrad Pero, Al Pero, and John Pero; and two sisters, Adelaide Pero and Evangeline Pero Schoolman.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary (James) Bradley of Waterloo, and Alice (James) Mooney of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 31. Burial was at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville.
