At the county board meeting held Tuesday, February 10, Washington County Health Department Administrator Sharon Frederking introduced the county’s new environmental health practitioner Linda Borowiak.

Borowiak will be filling the role held by former Environmental Health Director Jamie Jones who tendered her resignation at the end of 2014, after the implementation of county food and sanitation code.

Borowiak has a bachelor of science degree that is required for the job, but will need one year of experience with a county health department before she can be licensed. During that year, Frederking stated that the county has contracted with the Monroe County Health Department for supervision.

Among Borowiak’s duties will be inspection of restaurants and food establishments for health and sanitation.

Borowiak said that she appreciates the opportunity to serve the county and that she will not show favoritism.

“I want to help to make the county a safe place and a place that people enjoy coming to,” said Borowiak.
