A day after losing for just the third time this season at Carterville, the Nashville Hornets rebounded with a decisive 57-42 win over Pinckneyville Saturday night.

It was Senior Night at Assembly Hall, and the Nashville seniors went out on top with a commanding performance against the Panthers.

The Hornets led for most of the game as Pinckneyville was unable to solve Nashville’s suffocating zone defense.

After the Panthers scored the first bucket of the game, the Hornets responded with nine of the next ten points to take a 9-4 lead. Daniel Thorson scored, Royce Newman hit a pair of shots and Brady Bultman converted a three-point play to put Nashville on top 9-4, a lead the Hornets would never relinquish.

Pinckneyville hung around through the first half, but Nashville opened the throttle in the third quarter. An 11-2 run sparked by Bultman and Newman stretched the Hornets’ lead to double figures, and Nashville maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
