It was a perfect season for Nashville Middle School.
The Junior Hornets captured the state title at the SIJHSAA Class-M Tournament held last weekend at Rend Lake College, beating Pinckneyville 49-36 in the championship game.
Carson Parker and Bryce Bultman did the heavy lifting for the NMS offense, combining for 38 of the team’s 49 points.
Nashville led by four after the first quarter and then stretched the lead to double figures by halftime. Pinckneyville was unable to recover, as the Junior Hornets held them off in the second half to claim the win.
Parker led all scorers with 20 points, and Bultman went off for 18 more. Matt Anderson scored four points, Brendan Baum had three and Joe Morris chipped in two points in the win.
Aviston was no match for NMS in the semifinal game last Tuesday, as the Junior Hornets cruised to a 41-22 win.
