Sandra ‘Sandy’ K. Smith

Sandra “Sandy” K. Smith, age 67, of Sparta, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at 1:10 p.m. in Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born on August 24, 1947 in DuBois, a daughter to Cecil and Gladys (Wiese) Dober. On June 6, 1965 she married Bud Smith and he survives. She was a member at Calvary Church, Sparta. She and her husband owned and operated the IGA store in Sparta, and afterwards she became an Avon sales rep, sold life/accident insurance for Colonial, and was a Pharmacy Tech for Wal-Mart in Sparta. Sandy enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband Bud Smith, Sparta; son Mike (Renee) Smith, Coulterville; daughter Debbie (David) Hochmuth, Sparta; mother Gladys M. Dober, Coulterville; four grandchildren Kaley (Cole) Bumann, Cody (Levi) Craig, Justin Krantz, DJ (Heather) Hochmuth; two great-grandchildren, Carter Bumann, who will be born in the first week of March, and Grayson Hochmuth.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Dober.

Funeral services were held at Calvary Church, Sparta, on Saturday, February 21, with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment was in Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta.

Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Church or Sparta Humane Society.
