Sheriff’s Report

March 3

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to rural Okawville for a report of a burglary alarm sounding. Deputies checked the residence, homeowners stated that everything was secure.

The Sheriff’s Department performed a welfare check at a residence in Addieville.

March 4

The Sheriff’s Dept. responded to State Route 15 and Texas Road for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Carl D. Hensley, 18, of Matlacha Isles, Fla. was driving his vehicle when it went off the road.

March 5

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department found an abandoned automobile on County Highway 16 near Swanwick Road, near Oakdale.

The Sheriff’s Dept. reported that Shane T. Sears, 39, of Bluford, was run off of the road by another vehicle on State Route 15 near Madison Road. Sears’ vehicle exited the roadway, hit a utility pole and overturned. No injuries were reported.

March 7

The Sheriff’s Dept. responded to I-64 near mile marker 57 for a motorist assist.

The Sheriff’s dept. responded to a one-vehicle traffic crash on Co. Hwy 12, near Marigold Rd. Darrell Madden, 50, of Evansville, was traveling southbound on Co. Hwy 12 when the vehicle exited the east side of the roadway, overturned and came to rest in a creek. Madden was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Dept. assisted the Okawville Police Dept. with an accident.
