The Nashville FFA Chapter attended the Southern Illinois County Farm Bureau’s FFA Acquaintance Day Program held on Jan. 27 at the Southern Illinois University Student Center in Carbondale.

The event is sponsored by local County Farm Bureaus® and the Southern Illinois University College of Agricultural Sciences. This year over 400 FFA members were in attendance. The theme of this years’ program was, “Cultivating YOUR Future.”

Four sessions were presented during the day and included Illinois AITC Education Director Kevin Daugherty, where students learned how to “Appreciate the Products of YOUR Toil”, “Cultivating YOUR Future” presented by Young Farmers from various county Farm Bureaus, “Harvesting YOUR Success” by representatives from Growmark, and “Planting YOUR Potential” presented by SIUC Collegiate FFA and Agbassadors.

After workshops, students gathered in the grand ballroom for a few closing speakers. Dr. Susan Ford, acting SIU Provost and Dr. Mickey Latour, COAS Dean, both made brief remarks.

As a result of the chapter’s participation, members are eligible to send a representative(s) to the 2015 Illinois Farm Bureau® and Affiliates Youth Conference, March 30-31 at the Springfield Crowne Plaza.
