Mrs. Eva “LaVern” Wiese of Nashville departed this life at her residence in Nashville on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. She had attained the age of 78 years, nine months and 14 days.
Mrs. Wiese was born on June 9, 1936 in Jefferson County, the daughter of Woodrow and Pearl (McMahan) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Eugene Wiese on October 9, 1954 at St. Christian Church in Woodlawn, and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2004.
LaVern worked in housekeeping at Washington County Hospital in Nashville for over 30 years. After retirement she spent many volunteer hours helping the Washington County Senior Services and meals on wheels. She attended the First Christian Church in Nashville. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Nashville, AMVETS in Mt. Vernon, and VFW in Carlyle. LaVern enjoyed playing bingo and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Kenneth Wiese of Nashville, Ann Phelps and her husband Ron of Mt. Vernon, and Tommy Wiese and his wife Rhonda of Okawville; a sister, Mary Margaret Doughet of Dix; two brothers, Donald Wilson of Carbondale and James Earl Wilson of Oblong; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Charley McMahan.
Funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Schwab officiating and with interment to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. until the service hour.
Should friends desire memorials can be made to the family of LaVern Wiese or the Washington County Senior Services and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
