Nashville School Libraries Receive Grants
Nashville Community High School District 99 and Nashville Grade School District 49 were awarded grants by Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White in FY15 School District. Both districts received $750 for their libraries.
“The school library is a place where children have access to resources and opportunities for achieving academic excellence,” White said. “As a former teacher, I am proud to award this grant to ensure our school libraries stay vital and relevant while educating our students.”
Grants were awarded based on a formula of $.75 per student with a minimum grant award of $750. The School District Library Grant Program is used to acquire fiction and/or non-fiction books, educational CDs and DVDs, library subscriptions, electronic resources like new computers and improve Wi-Fi connectivity.
