Continental Tire awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Sarah Doerr of rural Nashville.
The teenage scholarship candidates were the children of Continental employees from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Andean Regions.
Continental has identified a number of values that represent the company and its product.
These values are: Trust, Passion to win, Freedom to Act, and For One Another.
The candidates were asked to choose one of the company values and then describe, in an essay of 500 words or less, what that value meant to them and how they live out this value in their daily lives.
Doerr’s essay was chosen from several entrants in the U.S. and Canadian Region. Her essay did an excellent job of describing what a passion to win means to her, and how she portrays that value in her personal Life.
Sarah is the daughter of Bill and Sonya Doerr, and she is currently a junior attending NCHS. She is involved in bands, choir, National Honor Society, and Tri-M Honor Society.
