Sylvester Peter Suchomski, 78, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 11:57 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Des Peres Hospital in Des Peres, Mo.
Suchomski Equipment started in 1952. Syl attended one semester at the University of Illinois and came back and was affiliated with Suchomski Equipment in 1954.
Syl was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Todds Mill, the Knights of Columbus in Pinckneyville and the Suchomski Bowling Team Syl was a very witty person, enjoyed fishing, polka dances, and was an avid Pinochle Card Player. Syl was greatly loved by his grandchildren.
Syl was in the Army Reserves from 1957-1962.
He was born October 6, 1936 in Todds Mill, the son of Louis John and Hattie (Ochap) Suchomski.
He married Rosemary Kujawa on August 26, 1959 at St. Michaels Church in Radom, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2013.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey G. Suchomski and wife Bernadine of Pinckneyville; daughter, Judy Limper and husband Neil of Springfield; three grandchildren, Haley Limper, Kevin Suchomski and Annabelle Suchomski; brother, Adam Suchomski and wife Lois of Springfield; brother, Lawrence Suchomski and wife JoAnn of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister, Bernadette Turner of Jefferson City, Mo.; brother, Gerald Suchomski and wife Linda of Auburn; and brother, Richard Suchomski and wife Nancy of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 1 at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at Todds Mill with Fr. Bernard C. Goedde Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery at Todds Mill.
Friends may make memorials to Masses or St. Mary Magdalen Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
