JV Hornets Open With Two Wins
The Nashville Hornets junior varsity baseball team opened the season with two dominating pitching performances and two wins.
Nashville pitchers Brogan Kemp and Jacob Woodrome combined on a no-hitter in beating Trico 8-0 in the season opener.
In addition to his five innings on the mound, Kemp drove in four runs and went 3-for-4 to lead the Hornets’ offense. Stephen Reuss had two hits and drove in two runs, Jacob Heck and Tyler Jahnke each had a hit and drove in a run, and Cameron Parker and Trevor Meier also collected hits in the win.
Woodrome worked two scoreless innings in relief of Kemp.
Nashville’s pitching was even better in the Hornets’ 10-0 win over New Athens. This time, Woodrome threw a perfect game over five innings to give his team the lopsided win.
Heck hit a three-run home run in the second inning, and Kemp doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs. Cade Krueger and Meier also knocked in two runs apiece, and Austin Anderson and Woodrome also had hits in the win.
