Edna

Hershberger

Edna Elizabeth Hershberger, nee Yearick of Okawville went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 9:45 p.m. at the Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Nashville, IL. She had attained the age of 102 years, ten months and 12 days.

Edna was born on May 25, 1912 in Lemoyne, Pa., the daughter of Harry F. and Mary M. (nee Wengert) Yearick. She graduated from Shippensberg State Teachers College in 1933. After teaching for two years, she married and became a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Marie Eicher; and two half-brothers, Richard and Robert Yearick.

Left to mourn her passing are her four sons, Olin C. “Jerry” Hershberger of Lynchburg, Tenn., Maurice L. Hershberger of Reno, Nev., Arthur B. Hershberger of Port Mansfield, Texas and Ronald G. Hershberger and wife Brenda of Okawville; two daughters-in-law; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, three nieces, along with many friends and neighbors.

Edna lived her life one day at a time. As a faithful member of the Okawville United Methodist Church, she always cared about those less fortunate and was a willing witness to her faith. She loved to bake, was always ready to go for a ride and eagerly added to her collection of over 500 sets of salt and pepper shakers. She enjoyed celebrations with her grandchildren, visiting over a cup of coffee with friends, and helping in the kitchen at church socials.

In accordance with the wishes of Mrs. Hershberger, cremation will be performed and a private, family ceremony will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Okawville United Methodist Church, the Foundation Fighting Blindness or the Okawville Senior Center and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
