Nashville’s unbeaten start to the season stretched to a dozen games with two more wins by the Hornettes last week.
After hammering Lebanon 24-0 Friday, Nashville came up with a 2-0 win at Goreville Saturday.
A short-handed pack of Greyhounds had little luck against the Hornettes Friday afternoon, as Nashville buried Lebanon under an avalanche of runs.
The offensive heroes were legion. Mackenzie McFeron drove in four runs and had two hits, Jordi Harre went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in, Paige Kasten drove in three runs and Daley Buchanan had two hits and an RBI. Emily Thompson, Joey Lane, Diedra Holzhauer, Brooke Burcham, Dakota Hunter, Alli Liske and Jordan Stiegman all drove in runs in the win.
Maci Ingram handled the Goreville lineup and Thompson homered in the Hornettes’ 2-0 win over the Blackcats Saturday.
Thompson’s leadoff homer in the fourth broke a scoreless tie, and the Hornettes tacked on another run in the sixth when McFeron singled and scored.
Those two runs proved more than enough for Nashville’s ace. Ingram was on her game, giving up just one hit over seven innings to earn her second shutout win in as many days.
Harre and Thompson had two-hit games, and Kasten, Burcham and Holzhauer recorded the Hornettes’ other hits.
Nashville (12-0) hosted DuQuoin Tuesday before traveling to Pinckneyville Wednesday. The Hornettes will play at Mater Dei Thursday and play Anna-Jonesboro at home Friday before traveling to Mt. Vernon Saturday. Next week, Nashville travels to Sparta Monday and Carterville Tuesday.
