Junior Hornettes Track Team Wins Monday At Home

Nashville Middle School’s girls track team won going away Monday afternoon.

The Junior Hornettes put together a team score of 114.5, outpacing second place Okawville by 59.5 points. Pinckneyville-204 finished third with 49 points, Centralia had 35 and St. Ann scored a 31.5.

Jadah Heidel took first place in the long jump (14’ 2”), hurdles (:18.39) and the 400-meter dash (1:07.6). She was also a member of the first place 1,600-meter relay team (4:49), along with Kylie Kozuszek, Sabrina Kollbaum and Destyn Hausner.

Three Junior Hornettes won their respective 100-meter dash races: Kylie Kozuszek was first in the 8th grade race (:14.33), Destyn Hausner won the 7th grade event (:13.92), and Hannah Grzegorek was first in the 6th grade event (:15.56). Ashlyn Frazier finished just behind Grzegorek (:15.84).

Carli Hoffman and Kourtney Stroud took the top two spots in the shot out at 30’ 9” and 30’ 3”.

The NMS 6th grade 400-meter relay team of Frazier, Havalen Pierce, Grzegorek and Kylie Heidel was golden with a time of 1:02, and the 400-meter relay team of Olivia Cook, Elley Szopinski, Kayla Ivey and Destyn Hausner took second (:58.98) overall.

High jump: Destyn Hausner (2nd place) 4’ 6”

Long jump: Sabrina Kollbaum (2nd place) 12’

800-meter run: Grace Maschoff (3rd place) 2:49.5

1,600-meter run: Grace Maschoff (2nd place) 6:11; Brittnie Bartling (3rd place) 6:15

Hurdles: Elise Spencer (2nd place) :19.22
