Simply the Best is a Washington County program designed for today’s youth to promote personal development and positive self-esteem. High school youth volunteer to act as teen mentors for the event, which was held on March 14 at Nashville Middle School.

Youth participated in workshops related to career choices, being a positive influence in someone else’s life, and what to expect in high school. Participants also worked on a hands-on community service workshop in coordination with Operation Military Kids. They packaged and prepared survivor bracelets to be made by kids who have parents deployed. They also collected items for soldier care packages.

Keynote speaker, small group activities, team challenge games, pizza supper and a dance made it a busy but enjoyable day. The program is made possible by local donations and partners. This year almost 200 youth participated, along with 30 volunteers.
