Upcoming Events Planned By Chamber Of Commerce
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce met Wednesday afternoon for their Board meeting and then met later that night for the General Membership meeting.
Treasurer Darlene Schomaker reported that while the final bills have not come in, she does know there was a profit from the Volunteer of the Year Banquet.
Director Doris Povolish reported that there are 108 members so far with 17 new and more to come. The latest additions are Girolamo’s, NOTS Logistics, the Warehouse and Press Box Pizza – Movie Store – Sunseekers.
Povolish also talked about the Farmers’ Market beginning in early May. There is a fence in front of the Washington County Courthouse, but the Chamber did receive permission to use the sidewalk in front of the fence for the Farmers’ Market. This will be on Thursday mornings from May 7 through November 19.
There was discussion on whether to have the Monday evening Farmers’ Market, as there are usually only a couple of vendors out. Povolish will meet with the vendors soon to discuss this issue, as well as getting set up for the Thursday mornings.
Reality Day, which is for the 8th graders in schools in Nashville. It is a lesson in preparing for life and how much it can cost. The date has been set for May 5 at the Nashville Community Center.
Spring Madness is this week, on Friday, April 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Nashville, as well as other areas of the town. Some businesses will set up in front of other businesses, closer to downtown.
There will be multiple giveaways of Nashville Dollars, as the businesses will have a collection box or jar in their store for those that visit.
Board member Sara Habbe reported that the finishing touches are being put on the Chamber’s website and it should have gone live on Tuesday. Members are encouraged to visit it at that time and check it for their business, and then call Povolish if there are any errors or issues.
The Fall Festival committee is meeting on where to have the event this year, as the Courthouse will be under renovation and all of the lawn will be fenced off, but the goal is to have it in much of the same area on the streets. They are also working on booking the entertainment for that weekend.
