Curtis E. White of DuBois departed this life at his residence in DuBois on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:04 a.m. He had attained the age of 87 years and 14 days.

Mr. White was born on April 1, 1928 in Centralia, the son of Stanley and Viva (Woodrome) White. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ellermeyer on September 30, 1950 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in DuQuoin, and she preceded him in death only 38 days before him, on March 7, 2015.

Curtis was a member of the United States Army. He worked as a foreman for Hoben Candy Company in Ashley until the company closed. He then worked at the DuBois Center as maintenance for over 15 years. Curtis was a lifelong farmer and a member of the St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in DuBois, American Legion Post 110, V.F.W. and the Washington County Farm Bureau. Curtis loved farming and he enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Left to mourn his passing are his two daughters, Sharon White and close friend Julia Wagner of Asheville, N.C. and Stacey Little of Centralia; a son, Terry White and wife Joyce of DuBois; a granddaughter, Elyse Sledge of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons, Jake Little of Centralia, Lane Liggett of DuBois and Erien White and wife Hailey of DuBois; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, two sisters, his stepmother, four stepbrothers and one stepsister

Funeral services were held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley on Monday, April 20 with Rev. Tom Ellison officiating and with interment to follow in the Ashley City Cemetery in Ashley. Military graveside rites were accorded by the American Legion Post 110.

Should friends desire memorials may be made to the St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in DuBois and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
