Five up and five down, and the winning streak continues for the Nashville Hornettes.
Nashville remained perfect on the season with five wins last week, extending the Hornettes unbeaten start to 18 games.
The Hornettes took care of River-to-River Conference business to start the week, handling both DuQuoin and Pinckneyville by matching scores of 3-0.
Maci Ingram was dominant against the Lady Indians last Tuesday, twirling another shutout while punching out 14 batters to notch the win.
A leadoff hit by Jordi Harre in the first inning paid dividends, as the senior speedster stole a base and later scored on Diedra Holzhauer’s sacrifice fly.
Nashville scored again in the third when Emily Thompson singled, stole a base and scored on an RBI single by Daley Buchanan.
In the fourth, Brooke Burcham led off the inning with a single, stole second base and came home on Alli Liske’s double to make it 3-0.
That proved to be more than enough offense for Ingram, who mowed down the DuQuoin batters, scattering just three hits in the shutout.
Thompson and Buchanan each both had two hits on the day, and Liske and Holzhauer drove in runs for Nashville.
It was the same song but a different verse Wednesday when the Hornettes blanked Pinckneyville 3-0.
