A strong showing in the field events helped the Nashville Hornets claim the trophy of their own invitational meet last Wednesday.
Nashville athletes finished first or second in five field events on the way to a 138.2 team score, topping Freeburg by 18 points for the top spot in the event.
Joe Blumenstock was the best pole vaulter at the event, Ethan Reid had the best high jump and Nick Wolf won the shot put. Peyton Renken and Neil Kachuba also had second place finishes in the discus and long jump events, respectively.
On the track, Jackson Pierce had the best showing in an individual running event when he won the 400-meter dash. He was also a member of the winning 3,200-meter relay team and took second in the 200-meter dash.
Jordan Love had the second best time in the 800-meter run, edging out teammate Brandon Schnitker’s third place finish, and Quayd Novak finished third in both hurdle events.
