JV Hornets Win Twice
The Nashville Hornets’ junior varsity baseball team won two of three games last week to improve to 9-2 on the year.
Nashville hammered Sparta by a score of 21-5 for the Hornets’ eight win of the year last week.
Brogan Kemp had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs batted in. Cameron Parker also had a three-hit game, and Tyler Jahnke had two hits and drove in four runs, and Trevor Meier had two hits and three RBI.
Jacob Woodrome pitched well in the Hornets’ 6-2 win over Pinckneyville.
Woodrome went the distance on the mound, allowing just one earned run while striking out eight to notch the win.
Nashville scored three times in the first inning and tacked on a run in the second, one in the fourth and another in the sixth.
Trey Stevenson, Stephan Reuss and Meier all had two hits and an RBI apiece, and Parker rapped out two hits and scored twice. Jacob Heck also had a hit and an RBI in the win.
The Hornets dropped their second game of the season against Central Friday by a score of 12-2.
Nashville trailed from the start, managing just one run in the second an another in the sixth on the way to the loss.
Heck, Meier, Kemp, Derek Kirgan and Reuss accounted for the hits for Nashville.
