Nashville FFA Wins Two Horticulture Competitions

The Nashville FFA Horticulture team recently took home first place wins at both the Section 21 Horticulture CDE hosted by the Mt. Vernon FFA, and the District V Horticulture CDE in Carbondale.

Members competed in activities that tested their ability to judge plants, identify 50 plants from a list of over two hundred, take a 50 question general knowledge test of the horticulture field, and make a corsage and package it.

Winners at the Section 21 Horticulture CDE were:

• Sarah Herrmann – first place

• Austin Schorfheide – second place

• Tianna Kozuszek – 8th place

• Johnna Tomaszewski – 9th place.

At the district contest, all six members placed within the top ten.

• Sarah Herrmann – first place

• Tianna Kozuszek – third place

• Austin Schorfheide – fifth place

• Johnna Tomaszewski – 7th place

• Abby Kempfer – 10th place.

Sarah Herrmann was also the first place individual for the identification section of the competition.
