NMS Track Teams Win Regionals
Nashville Middle School will be represented in force at the SIJHSAA Class S State Track Meet May 9 in Herrin.
Both the boys and girls track teams won their respective regional meets Saturday at Nashville Community High School, earning both the Junior Hornets and Junior Hornettes a chance to compete for a state championship.
In the boys’ meet, the Junior Hornets were the best of the dozen teams competing.
Tanner Bergmann won the 400-meter event for NMS, and the 7th grade relay team of Tristen Hercules, Gavin Love, Carson Parker and Jackson Aulds also finished first overall at the event.
Aulds also qualified for state in his second place finish in the hurdles, and he finished third in the 7th grade 100-meter dash.
Other second place finishes went to Dylan Kwiatkowski in the shot put and the 1,600-meter relay team of Love, Isaac Sexe, Bryse Bultman and Bergmann.
