Hornettes Take Sixth At
Madison Frerker competes in the 3,200-meter run for the Hornettes last week at the Nashville Invitational.
Easten Hoepker had the Hornettes’ lone top finish, as Nashville finished sixth overall at the Nashville Invitational Meet last Thursday. Chester was the top performing team of the 19 teams participating in the event.
Hoepker’s discus throw of 118’ 7” was the best in the meet, and the Hornettes put together a team score of 37 to finish off the pace.
Emily Harper took third in the shot put, Allyson Grabowski was fourth in the triple jump, and Taylor Cook was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.
Nashville’s squad took third in the 3,200-meter relay, fourth in the 1,600-meter relay, and fifth in the 800-meter relay.
As the regular season winds down, the Hornettes will start competing in some of the bigger meets of the season. Thursday is the River-to-River Conference Meet in Harrisburg, followed by the Lady Indians Invitational in DuQuoin Monday. That will be the final warm-up before the Nashville Sectional May 15.
