Trinity-Hoyleton At Lutheran Track Meet

The Trinity-Hoyleton Hurricanes track team finished first among seven small schools, and sixth overall, at the Southern Illinois District Lutheran Track Meet Saturday at Belleville-East High School.

Trinity had several top finishes and will send six Hurricanes to the Lutheran State Track Meet in Chicago: Brooke Bowman (shot put), Mollee Eickmeyer (discus, 100-meter relay, 800-meter relay), Kaly Huge (100-meter dash, shot put, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run), Emily Schnitker (400-meter relay, 800-meter relay), Sydney Schnitker (long jump, triple jump, hurdles, 800-meter run) and AllieJade Zalos (triple jump, 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay).

First place finishes for Trinity included Bowman in the shot put, and Sydney Schnitker in both the triple jump and long jump events.

Earlier in the month, the Hurricanes took fourht at the Little-8 Conference Track Meet Friday.

Sydney Schnitker set a new conference record in the hurdles and took second in both the long jump and triple jump. She was also a member of the record setting 400-meter relay team, along with Eickmeyer, Huge and Zalos.

Bowman finished first in the shot put and was second in the softball throw, Eickmeyer took third in the triple jump and fifth in the discus, and Huge was third in the 100-meter dash, fourth in the shot put and fifth in the long jump.

Lucas Boester had the best finish among the senior boys, taking fourth in the softball throw.
