In their final tune-up before the sectional track meet in Chester Thursday, the Nashville Hornets took second while hosting the Jared Morris Invitational Monday.

Jackson Pierce gave the Hornets their lone top finish in the 400-meter run, but Nashville put together 66 points to finish 25 points off the pace set by Sparta.

Pierce did not turn in the only strong performance on the track. Brandon Schnitker finished second in the 1,600-meter run, and Quayd Novak was second in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles.

In field events, shot putters Nick Wolf and Payton Renken finished second and fourth, respectively, while Joe Blumenstock took third in the pole vault. Anthony Harper also was fourth in the triple jump.

Nashville was also solid in the relay events. The 3,200-meter relay team was second, the 1,600-meter team was third and the 800-meter relay team finished fifth.

It was the last action for the Hornets before the Chester Sectional Thursday.
