For the fourth time in as many years, Easten Hoepker is going to state in the discus.
Hoepker’s throw of 119-10 was the best at the Nashville Sectional last week, maintaining her perfect streak of qualifying for the IHSA State Track Meet through her high school career. She earned a medal last year with a ninth place finish, and she will attempt to improve upon that this weekend.
Joining Hoepker at the state meet is Nashville’s 3,200-meter relay team of Allyson Grabowski, Mariel Elliott, Taylor Cook and Rachael Kell. They won their event with a time of 10:24.4.
As a team, the Hornettes finished third overall at the meet with 63.5 points. Chester won with team total of 107.5, edging out Althoff’s score of 106.
Nashville had several other strong finishes on both the track and in field events. Both of the 800-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams took third, and the 400-meter relay team was sixth.
