Before the barbecues are lit and brews drank, take a solemn moment to remember that Memorial Day is for those who gave their lives fighting for the United States of America.

In Nashville, Post 110 of The American Legion, and their brother and sister organizations, as well as Washington County Boy Scouts and the NCHS Band will be holding an observance service at Memorial Park, beginning at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

In Okawville, American Legion Post 233 of Okawville, and American Legion Post 683 of St. Libory, will be conducting the Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Legion Home 205 N. Hanover Street, Okawville.

The Venedy Band will be providing the music. The guest speaker will be Pastor Jeff Swab of St. Peters United Church of Christ of Okawville. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Following the ceremony, there will be a dinner for legion members and their guests.
