Hornettes Handle Fairfield In Super-Sectional
By Travis Volz
With a trip to state on the line, the Nashville Hornettes took care of business last Tuesday in the Johnston City Super-Sectional by beating Fairfield 7-0.
Ingram tossed a two-hitter and the Hornettes scored twice in the first inning to take control of a game that was never in question.
“We always want to have a good start, and that’s what we did,” Nashville coach Dempsey Witte said. “I think it makes it easier on your defense, and it allows to be more aggressive on the basepaths, so those two runs in the first inning were huge.”
Emily Thompson started things with a two-out single. Deidra Holzhauer brought her around with a run scoring double, and Daley Buchanan followed that up with an RBI single.
