Lamplighters Discuss Eating Well

Lamplighters Home and Community Education Unit met at the home of Myrene Alfeldt on June 10, Roll call was answered by naming your favorite appetizer.

Myrene present the lesson “Eating Well as You Age.” One should make appropriate food choices that include a variety of colorful foods including lean protein, lower fat dairy, fruits/ vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats. As you age it is not only important to eat well but to be physical active in order to be healthy.

Members plan to eat lunch at the Gulf Shores Restaurant in Edwardsville In August for their summer outing. Mildred Kroener, Mary McClay, and Shirley Hagene volunteered to bake cookies for the Eager Beaver’s Color Run on June 20.

Myrene served hot chicken salad, ice cream and cake for refreshments.
