The Nashville Lions Club met on the evening of Monday, June 15, and installed their new officers for the year.
Taking over as president of the Nashville Lions was Jeff Luechtefeld. Last year’s president, Victor Lopez handed the gavel over to Luechtefeld, and then took over the role of ex oficio.
Joining Luechtefeld and Lopez were Kent Shubert, the first vice president; Doug Holzhauer, second vice president; Gary Moeller, third vice president; Denny Hoffman, secretary; Gary Malawy, treasurer; Gene Paskiewicz, tail twister; Duane Nottmeyer, lion tamer; Dan Heggemeier, membership chairman.
Lions Club Directors include Chester Paszkiewicz and Mike McCleary, whose term expires on June 30; and Joy Colbrook and Dennis Koch whose term expires on June 30, 2016.
The Nashville Lions also heard from Jodi Witthaus at the meeting.
Witthaus is a Hoyleton native and is blind. Through an effort spearheaded by Ralph Michael of the Hoyleton Lions Club, the Hoyleton, Nashville and Okawville Lions Clubs purchased a Braille Edge 40 display for Witthaus.
The Edge 40 is both a keyboard and a display and Witthaus uses it in her daily life, including for reading books and for her studies towards a masters degree in social work at SIU–C.
