The Ashley City Hall will be closed June 29 through July 6 for vacation. If you have a emergency please call 918-0325. Don’t forget that the Community Building is available for rent for showers, weddings and parties. There is a deposit of $200 that is refundable if the building is left clean with no damage. There is a additional $50 deposit if alcohol is served. The small room is $50 for four hours and a $100 for all day. The entire building for four hours is a $100 and all day is $350. The deposit does not apply to the rental. Questions please feel free to contact City Hall after July 6.
The Ashley Community Committee has been busy preparing for Ashley Independence Day on July 5. Ashley Community Committee has a Mascot and his name is Chicken Little. He is a very handsome Polish rooster. Come out and meet Chicken Little on July 5. Did you see some of our members this past week in their chicken hats? They will be out this week as well watch for them.The Flea Market opens at 7 am.Church Services in the Park at 10. Rainbow Ranch will arrive at 12 for a petting zoo. Free kids games from 2 til 4. New Heart Fellowship will be serving chicken and dumpling dinners from 4 til 7. Live Polka music from 4 til 7.DJ and live music from 6 til ? Check out some of the local talent Washington County Lowlifes and Goat Chop. Chops will have ICE cold Beer at the Beer tent. Chaddy Daddy BBQ (Chad Setzekorn) will be serving up some awesome brats and bbq. Fireworks at dusk provided by the City of Ashley. Bring your lawn chairs and spend the day. Items are still needed for the cake walk if you would like to donate call me.
Don’t forget to sign your kids up for the Summer Reading Program at the Ashley Library. Sign up July 1 at 1 p.m. for ages 5 thru 12. Each time your child visits the library and checks out a new book to read they will receive a prize and be registered for the grand prize of four Cardinal baseball tickets for the Cardinal-Cubs game on Sept 8. The drawing will be Aug 5 at the closing program where awards will be presented and there will be Karaoke. So dust off those vocal chords.
Diana Joseph did a great job organizing the bake sale for The Kevi Lipe Family. Thanks to everyone who donated and purchased baked goods. If you missed the bake sale and would like to donate to Kevi there is a jar at Ashley Marketplace for donations.
Betz will have her regular auction July 9 at 6 p.m. at the Community Building. Stop by and check it out. If you’re lucky she may sing you a song.
Ashley Firefighters Association will be hosting a Blood Drive July 22 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Ashley Community Building. To schedule an appointment visit redcrossblood.org (Sponsor Code: Radom) Be sure to bring a photo I.D. If you’re interested in becoming a firefighter or emergency medical responder with the ACFPD be sure to contact them.
The United Methodist Church will not have church services on July 5, be sure to come out to the park at 10 a.m. for Church.
Ashley Community Committee will meet on July 13 and 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Building. Everyone is welcome to attend and join.
Ashley City Council meeting is July 20 at 7 p.m. at City Hall. If you have questions or concerns be sure to attend these meetings and speak up during the hearing from the citizens.
