The Hoyleton Community set the stage for a surprise 50th Anniversary Party for Charley and Judy Vogt on June 27. Hosted by their daughter, Stacy Lange, a large contingency of family and friends gathered to celebrate the momentous occasion. Charley and Judy were speechless as they approached the building with the entire entourage standing outside shouting: Surprise!

The 2015 Spenner Reunion was held at the Hoyleton Community Club on Sunday, June 28. Traveling from Michigan, Georgia, and Iowa, 130 family members enjoyed fellowship. The oldest attendee is 92; with the youngest being three months of age. Both a live and silent auction were held with proceeds targeted for funding the 2017 Reunion. A hand-made afghan crafted by Darlene Witthaus was raffled; and an afghan was auctioned with the donations to be sent for the Sierra Wilder Scholarship. Six Spenner sisters create a kaleidoscope as their families dress in a designated color. Gertie Spenner Holle remarked: “The hall was living color – my family was wearing sky blue shirts and my sister Beulah and her family were in burgundy; Loretta’s wore aqua; Dorothy’s group wore yellow;Janet’s family were decked out in navy blue with Judy’s clan in lime green.” As many of the attendees stated: One good time was had by all!

A variety of musical entertainment will grace the park during the 47th Annual Hofbraufest. Derek Czerwonka, performing as DJ Dwonka and Funke will perform Friday, July 10 from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. On Saturday, July 11, Joe Lukasik will perform from 5 – 7 p.m. with the Barstool Prophets taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sunday finds Joe Lukasik returning from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., and the Polka Connection, featuring Ray Stanowski and Mike Wisniewski, playing from 5 – 9 p.m. Mark your calendar and head to Hoyleton for relaxing family fun and talented musical entertainment!

Zion United Church of Christ in Hoyleton continues their journey through the season after Pentecost with this next Sunday’s sermon title: Empowered, Enabled, Encouraged. With the guidance and direction of Scripture readings from 2 Samuel 5:1-5, 9-10 and Mark 6:1-13 listeners will have an opportunity to consider the extent to which our ministry/daily life is made possible through/by God’s provision. All are invited to join in this 10 am service.
