Local Groups Host Family Events At County Fair
The Washington County Fair will be here before you know it. Local 4-H members are gearing up to show all their projects but they are also gearing up for some family events held at the fair. The Washington County 4-H program, Washington County Farm Bureau, Ag in the Classroom and FFA are all working together to host Kid’s Day on July 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Farm Olympics on July 9 at 5:30 p.m.
Kid’s Day welcomes kids of all ages to explore agriculture, plants and soils, and farm life. Field trip groups are welcome and there is no charge to participate.
Come out for Kid’s Day then stick around for the Farm Olympics in the Infield. Registration will open at 5 p.m. and the Farm Olympics will kick off at 5:30. Participation is limited to the first 20 teams to register-but all are welcome to come and cheer on your favorite team.
Gather a team of 4-8 people in either the junior division (11 to 18 year olds) or the senior division (19 and older) and join in the fun. Cash prizes for the first place teams in each division. For more information, or to register a team call the Washington County Extension Office at 618/327-8881.
