The Nashville News named Travis Volz as its new Marketing Manager on Friday.

Volz replaces Pam Smith.

In his new role, Volz will be in charge of advertising, circulation, printing and customer service with the Nashville News.

Volz started at the Nashville News in September of 2007 and worked as the Sports Editor for the newspaper until accepting this position.

Travis’ father, Dave Volz, served as the editor of The Nashville News, starting at the paper in 1997 and serving until his death in 2012.

Volz has lived in Washington County during that time, living in Nashville through the fall of 2014, when he and his family moved to Hoyleton where they currently reside.

Travis married his wife Shannon in 2004 and together, they have two children: Will, 8, going into third grade at Nashville Primary School, and Gwen, 18-months-old. Shannon works as a registered nurse at Washington County Hospital.

Volz is excited to bring his familiarity with Nashville, Washington County and its residents to help local business owners get the most out of their advertising dollars. He plans to place a premium on strong customer relations and service.

“I am going to try to live up to my father’s legacy,” said Travis. “I will work to simplify the advertising process, provide the best customer service and help the rest of the staff publish the best small town newspaper possible.”

Managing Editor Alex Haglund said that he was beginning the search for Volz’ replacement at the sports desk. “We are looking for someone with sports experience and to provide other news and information to a great sports community.”

Travis Volz can be reached by email at ads@nashnews.net and by phone at the Nashville News office at (618) 327-3411.
