Village Of Okawville Will Not Reimburse Sewer Backups

By Jill Moon

The Okawville Village Board met June 29th and the first order of business was to pass resolution 15-06-01 which said the Village will not reimburse residents for sewer back-ups. It was approved unanimously.

The Finance and Contracts Committee submitted their proposals concerning the Water and Sewer Operating Maintenance Fund (WSOM) to seek approval for their operating budget. It was approved with a stipulation that all repairs be finished by the annual Wheat Festival.

It was pointed out that the connections to the Main Line still need to be done, and more digging may be necessary before the streets look “clean”.

The Streets and Sidewalks Committee reported that the Hanover Street extension has begun and member Nathan Dick said it looks good. He also reported that some residents are weaving around the “Road Closed” signs and jeopardizing the work, which was echoed by the contractor. Those signs are there for a reason.
