New Pastor Began Services This Month
William Keith (Bill) Bunnage, 58, began serving in full-time pastoral ministry July 1, 1990. Bill is an ordained Deacon and Associate Member of the Illinois Great River Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has served the following churches: Seed Chapel-Hardinville, Mt. Zion-Brown’s Chapel, West Side Parish, Lewistown and Mt. Carmel Evangelical.
Bill is married to Rhonda (Moore) Bunnage. They will soon be celebrating 37 years together. Rhonda is presently employed by the Albion Veterinary Clinic as Office Manager.
Bill’s vision of ministry for the church is one in which every man, woman and child should have the privilege of knowing God through Jesus Christ and should be invited to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.
“As disciples of Jesus Christ, we should be about those disciplines and activities that will deepen our love and relationship with Christ and with our neighbor,” Bill summed up his vocational vision in this way.
He is devoted to helping raise a congregation that would know God in their minds, love God with their hearts and would give themselves away through their acts of mercy and compassion. In other words, love God and others through head, heart and hands.
Bill and Rhonda believe participation in mission and ministry transforms lives, both those who give and those who receive. They know this from their own personal experiences but have witnessed it in the lives of others as well. This is what excites them about ministry! That’s why Bill and Rhonda are excited for this opportunity to come and serve as your pastor and parsonage family. They are anticipating getting to know each of you personally and ministering alongside you in the community.
Bill and Rhonda have three adult children. Their oldest daughter Nicole is married to Thomas Byford and they reside in Carbondale. Tom is an Associate Pastor at Carbondale First UMC. Their middle daughter Kimberly, resides in Sikeston, Mo., and works as a registered nurse. The youngest is son, Ryan, who resides and works in Mt. Carmel. They also have two grandchildren, Nathan Byford, 4 years old and Lily Byford, 2 years old.
Bill graduated from North Wayne Community High School in Cisne. He received his college education at Wabash Valley College, in Mt. Carmel, and completed his seminary studies through St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo.
Bill is a second career pastor. He and Rhonda grew up on family farms in Wayne and Edwards Counties. They left the corn, soybeans, and livestock behind to enter pastoral ministry in 1990. Bill gained some valuable life experience off the farm as well. In addition to farming, Bill has worked in construction, in the oilfield, and served as township road commissioner.
Bill enjoys his grandchildren and spoiling them. His hobbies include outdoor activities of all kinds.
Bill’s first Sunday was July 5.
