July 29 Classic Photo: Puttin’ On The Ritz

The young lady in last week’s Classic Photo turns out not to be a lady at all!

In 1967 a variety show was held by the Okawville High School Music Patrons Association to help pay for new band uniforms.

The show’s main attraction was a ladies’ spring fashion show, modeled only by men.

This model, wearing a pin-striped brown dress (safety pins), a turquoise hat and purse, was none other than Victor H Shuubert.

The late Orlee Wolf, Aldon Bultman, Victor G. Shubert and others were also models.

It was the most joyous event ever held i9n the Okawville Gym.

Mrs. Alice Shubert, then president of the Music PAtrons Association took the photo and contacted the Nashville News to identify her son in it.
