Former Nashville Middle School teacher and coach John Wall took home best of show for the best rear engine restoration this past weekend at the 14th Annual Vintage Kart Olympics.
Vintage karts are a go-kart that was made between 1959 when karting began in California and 1974. Wall's kart was fully restored with original parts.
Wall said “I'm a history buff, every nut and bolt is the way it was”. Wall's father Tallie, was a pattern maker, casting parts for karts in wood before they would be made of aluminum.
The kart that won best of show features a pair of two-cycle engine that Wall described as extremely rare.
