Angels for Autism continues to honor Traci Storey’s memory. Traci Storey had just graduated with a Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology when she died in a tragic accident.
Through the Angels For Autism Run and the many donations that were made in her honor, a sensory room, Storeyland, was developed. This room is currently located in the Nashville Primary School.
The room is used by therapist to help students with autism as well as other behavioral disorders.
Over the last six years Angels for Autism has been able to maintain Nashville’s room, as well as start rooms in Okawville and Wesclin School districts.
Angels for Autism has also given out monies to be used by therapists and teachers in other schools working with children with autism or other behavior disorders
Autism is a developmental disorder that typically appears within a child’s first three years of life. It affects the brains development of social and communication skills.
Autism and other behavioral disorders affect many children’s lives as well as their families.
Friends of Traci are coming together again for the annual 5K Angels For Autism run/walk. This year’s event will again be held at the Nashville Community Center, on the morning of September 26.
