Meet The New Faculty And Staff

By Michael Brink-Nashville #49 Superintendent

I hope that everyone has had a great first two weeks of school! It was an extremely busy summer as we prepared for the annexation of Hoyleton School District #29 into our school district. Things went smoothly along the way and we have welcomed many new students and families into our school. Our overall enrollment this school year now stands at 601 students, which is the highest overall enrollment since the 1999-2000 school year. We have enrolled over 80 new students this summer and have had more inquiries over the past few weeks. It is great to see that much growth here at Nashville #49!

We have several new faculty and staff members here at school this year. They are as follows: Amanda Bathon (Middle School Band/Choir), Missy Johns (Paraprofessional), Erika Marcum (Title I Reading Teacher), Denise McCormack (Special Education Teacher), Chiree Nadolski (Paraprofessional), Angie Redeker (Third Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher), Laura Toennies (Third Grade Language Arts Teacher), and Dustin Unverfehrt (Paraprofessional). On behalf of Nashville #49, I would like to welcome all of our new faculty and staff members!

Our next big event here at school is being sponsored by the district’s P.S.O. The annual Jr. Hornet 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at 9 AM with the kid’s Fun Run at 10 AM. Anyone who is interested in participating in this event can get information/sign up at or can pick up a flyer here at school. The money raised from this event will help support the district’s after-school clubs and programs. We had hundreds of students last year participate in after-school clubs such as LEGO Club, Gardening Club, Fitness Club, and Cooking Club. We are hoping to add an Astronomy Club and Art Club in the near future as well. We hope to see you on September 12th at the Jr. Hornet 5K!

As a reminder to Hoyleton residents who were annexed into Nashville #49, your school tax rate for taxes payable in 2015 will still be based on the December 2014 tax levy that was adopted by the Hoyleton #29 Board of Education. That levy produced a tax rate that was recently certified at $3.65433 per $100 of EAV. Annexed properties from Hoyleton #29 will see a rate change for the first time for taxes payable in 2016. The Nashville #49 tax rate was recently certified at $2.93238 per $100 of EAV.

I hope that everyone continues to have a smooth and successful 2015-2016 school year. Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you as we proceed through the school year. Additionally, please visit our web site regularly at to get updates and reminders pertaining to District #49.
